Rocket J. Squirrel, also known as “Rocky,” is a young and clever flying squirrel who has a history of solving various types of mysteries although can struggle significantly identifying Boris Badenov's voice. He plays the fiddle in Bullwinkle's band.
Our Original Lore: Rocky and his pal Bullwinkle have been friends since their original television series. When Bullwinkle decided to take up the banjo and start a band, Rocky dusted off his grandmother's fiddle and got to work. While Bullwinkle wants the band to focus on comedy acts and poetry recitals, Rocky tries to keep most of the focus on the music.
Originally, Rocky fancied the Fantasy Fountain Show, which he thought was flattering to perform behind. Unfortunately, his fur kept getting wet, and he started to ask restaurants not to install them anymore because he didn't like taking showers while playing the fiddle. He is currently still playing with Bullwinkle at an abandoned box office ticket booth which has been secretly infiltrated by Boris and Natasha.
Television & Film: Rocky made his debut in his own series, Rocky and His Friends. This series was later renamed to The Bullwinkle Show when Rocky decided he didn't want the spotlight anymore. The two would later sign a deal to allow the show to go into syndication as The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle. Rocky would appear with his moose pal in advertizing from the 1960's to the 1990's, as well as in a feature film in 2014.
Bullwinkle's Restaurants: Rocky's animatronic debuted in the very first prototype location in Santa Clara in 1982. He has remained part of the line up ever since. His speaking and singing voice is done by June Foray, although numbers that involve Rocky's heavier singing are voiced by an unknown singer.
